There are currently four states where insurance companies are required by law to waive the deductible if you have a Comprehensive policy. These are Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts and South Carolina. If you only have the mandatory Liability policy you cannot file a claim if you have a cracked or broken windshield.
It’s also worth mentioning that California and Massachusetts only cover windshields, but in Florida and South Carolina you can file a claim for any broken glass and the insurance company will have to fix it without charging a deductible.
